Yup, I'm sleeping on my couch again. I think you'd do the same if you'd killed 3 centipede creatures in your room(one of which was on your PILLOW). I did kill one in the living room on Friday night but given the data, I think the home station is upstairs somewhere. EW.
I bought a new can of spider killing spray at Walmart today and proceeded to spray every baseboard in my apt. Don't worry, I cracked the windows so I wouldn't pass out. If it gets to be Tuesday and I haven't killed any more creatures, I'll head back upstairs. My couch is pretty comfy though...especially since I put my freshly cleaned sheets on it. Add my freshman year comforter to them and I am in heaven. I do sleep with the light on ...to tell the centipedes I am here. I think they travel/fiesta in the dark when un-supervised.
On a more positive note, they were able to recover all my files(except for music) from my crashed computer! They then transferred them to my NEW MacBook. Hoollllaaaa. It has a camera in it. You know what that means??? I can videochat with YOU. Or do a video blog easily I suppose. The first is more exciting. Last night Becky and I played charades. Quite entertaining for a plan-less Saturday evening. We're going to work on getting games like Guess Who and Battle Ship so we can play each other. So amazing! Let us know if you want in.
I still haven't heard about my townhouse that I was supposed to hear about on February 12. I found some nice houses online today BUT I can't live in a house. I was exhausted when I had to shovel out the bottom of my driveway for 15 minutes the other week. I just could not handle yard work at this stage in my life. I just have far more important things to do with my time...like blog or eat?
Speaking of eating...my parents brought me tons of grocery goodies yesterday! I think they might be trying to send me a message though. I got 100 calorie packs of doritos, sun chips and cheetos for my lunch, jell-o, apple sauce, cranberry juice, fruit snacks that contain my daily intake of vitamin C(and that will last me like 50 lunches) and cheese sticks. Are you thinking what I'm thinking? My parents are trying to slim me down, aren't they?
One last thought before couch. Why is Dr Pepper(or any pop for that matter) so expensive? Like 6 bucks for 24 cans is NOT a good deal. Well, Meghan, why didn't you just buy 12 then? Because 12 cans for $4 is still NOT a good deal. Sigh. After entertaining the idea(for .8 seconds) of buying Dr Thunder, I splurged. The case should last me at least a month unless the kids are nuts at school.

Oh Boy
I'm planning/saving for a vacay in April of Twenty-Ten. My birthday is on Good Friday so that means I get a four day weekend(as long as I'm employed in a school) to celebrate my 25th year on this lovely Earth.
Where should I go? Do you want to come with? Would I like a cruise? Should I just stick with an all-inclusive deal? Should I ride down into the grand canyon on a mule? Suggestions are welcome.
Also, watch this clip from TAR. I was crying when we watched. And, I would have peed my pants had I been one of those beer drinking foreigners at the bottom of the hill.

I'm a nerd
So I learned this cool teaching strategy at the conference today(and you thought I spent the WHOLE time daydreaming).
It's a strategy called RAFT to promote writing in different content areas(like Math) and I really liked it. You give your kids a Role, Audience, Format and Topic to write about. For instance....
Role: Triangle
Audience: Circle
Format: Love Letter
Topic: Secret Admirer
Here's my sample for the class. Try not to be too jealous of my skillz.
Dear Circle,
I admire you in 360 ways. Listing all of those ways would take longer than calculating the digits of pi. For that reason, I will limit myself to the quotient of your diameter divided by your radius. Your curved outside is like no other polygon’s I know. And, I cannot escape your ever-present symmetrical figure. Every time I see a clock. a CD or a doughnut, I think of you.
Loving you with all of my 180 degrees,
Your three-sided secret admirer

I thought of more while I was at this conference today. Yes, I was daydreaming. The kids do it when I teach so I'm allowed to do it when I'm "learning" too.
18. I am overly cautious about who I am sending text messages to. I triple or quadruple check the To: line. After two instances of wrongly sent messages(both intended for Britta and talking about the two different people who actually received them), you would be too. For the record, I did intercept the most life-ruining/embarrassing one before it was read. PHEW.
19. I have been the same height since 1999. The only thing that has changed is that back then, I was "somewhat tall". Sigh.
20. I just don't get how girls can be attracted to blond-haired men. The ONLY blond I've thought "oooh-la-la!" about is Zack Morris.
21. After discussing my beer capacity both now and previously at the bar on Saturday, I have officially concluded that I was an alcoholic during the spring of 2007. Britta can attest to this fact. I'm going to blame it on student teaching those little rowdy bastards in M-ville and free, unlimited access to beer.
22. I have to be tipsy to feel like dancing in public.
23. I think a frozen pizza tastes better when it's room temperature as opposed to fresh out of the oven. Usually, I eat just one more piece(because I'm not good at saying no to tempting food!) before putting the leftovers in a baggie in the fridge for the night. MMMM mmmmmm.

25 Random Things
Everyone on the good ole book of the face is telling 25 of their "friends" random facts about them. Well, let's be honest, I don't have 25 friends on FB that would care to know 25 things about me. I know there are people I don't speak to that would read my facts(just as I have read theirs) but I'm not going be entertainment for those stalkers...
So, I'm tagging you(you will not receive an email alerting you of the fact though...this is less exciting than facebook already),readers. (Dave, this is like a myspace survey so I'm sure you'll be all over it.)
1. My oldest sister got married when she was 35, which means I have a good 11 years to settle down. That would still give me a 40 year marriage...seems long enough to me. And, yes, this is something I think about because 13-year-olds like to know my business.
2. I learned an important lesson in high school: You don't have to hang out with people you don't like. So, if I willingly hang out with you, I like you. If not, draw your own conclusion.
3. My job may be on the line because of financial issues in our public school system. I never thought this would happen. Junior Highs, which require 3 teachers per subject are cheaper than middle schools, which require 4. The lowest person on the totem pole(ME) gets cut. Yippee.
4. On the topic of #3, if I do need a new job, I think I am pretty f***-ing marketable. I can teach you English or Math, run your Nerd Bowl team, host after school tutoring, keep score for volleyball OR basketball games, etc.
5. Whenever I find Friends to watch on TBS, I LOL at least three times per episode. Why didn't I watch this show when it was on?
6. Since living alone, I don't think I could share my abode with anyone for an extended period of time.
7. Living alone has made me feel a bit anti-social. Like, is it ok that sometimes I'd rather sit here on my couch than call anyone to hang out?
8. I don't call people to hang out because I don't know if they want to hear from me/hang out with me and because of number 9...
9. I don't like calling people...to order pizza, to call customer service,to make hair or dentist appointments...
10. I also have "bad phone call ending" disease. I get it from my mother. She all but hangs up on me some days. "Ok, I'll let you go. Bye. Bye. Click"
10. I've been trying to ask more questions in conversations lately. I've been thinking I dominate conversations with facts/stories about me.
11. High schoolers intimidate me. Maybe it's their height or the possibility that they could be smarter than me. Maybe it's because I disliked high school.
12. I LOVED middle school. That fact probably explains a lot.
13. I was a bitch in middle school(but that's not why I loved it). I do feel bad about it but since I only talk to one person from back then, it's all good?
14. I can only chew gum for 40 minutes. After that, my gag reflex starts to kick in and I have to spit the gum out ASAP.
15. I don't pay my own car insurance or phone bill. Call me spoiled but I don't think I could handle that financially right now.
16. I have "feelings" about things that will happen in my life but don't always follow said feeling. For instance, I KNEW that I'd go to Valpo by September of my senior year of high school but still claimed Purdue has my number one choice until May 1. I also KNEW that I'd be a teacher but didn't declare a major until the end of my sophomore year of college. Another back burner feeling--I will have three sons and I will name them Joshua Thomas, Matthew Paul,(I had this name before I met THE Matthew Paul of Morgan TWP) and Ryan(I don't remember the middle name). And, no, I'm not a psycho. I'll let my husband(Anoop from AI) suggest some names as long as they all have my LAST name.
17. There was a kid with the last name of Fry in my preschool class. The teacher and all the kids thought our friendship was hilarious.
25. Oh, 25 already??? Phew.

Faves from last night
Are Doritos making a comeback? There sure were a lot of commercials for them(and for Budweiser....yuck!)
This was actually Jeff's favorite. So just imagine him laughing at the koala. "It's funny *insert Jeffy laugh* because he's wearing glasses *insert another Jeffy snicker* and holding a coffee cup."
"No one wants to see you naked." Bahahahaha.
